Fruit Gift Baskets

Fruit gift baskets

Fruit gift baskets are perfect gifts for many occasions including birthdays, anniversaries, Valentines Day and Christmas.

What's in a fruit basket?

Why fruit of course! Fruit gift baskets are traditionally made up of regional fruits. The most common fruit baskets include citrus fruits or a mix of what you might consider to be every day fruits. A citrus fruit basket may include oranges, limes, lemons and grapefruits. They usually come from the south or from California. Lots of fruit baskets contain what are considered every day fruits, such as apples and oranges. These baskets usually don't have bananas because bananas spoil more quickly than other fruits.

Fruit gift baskets can contain other fruit. The items in the basket may depend on the region the basket's coming from. Michigan is known for its cherries so a fruit basket that's sent out of Michigan might include a variety of dried cherries. Michigan is also known for its blueberries, but you won't find those in a fruit basket! Blueberries, strawberries, grapes and other hard to preserve fruits don't travel well. The only time you'll see these soft fruits in a fruit gift basket is if they're being delivered by hand locally.

Good occasions for fruit baskets

You can really give someone fruit gift baskets for any occasion. Fruit gift baskets are great winter gifts because many people cut down on their fruit intake in the winter. They’re also great for graduation parties, barbeques and Christmas. Many fruit gift baskets come in an actual Cornucopia, which is a very festive adornment for Thanksgiving. You can even give someone fruit gift baskets at the beginning of a season. Ring in the beautiful fall colors with fruit baskets that carry juicy fall treats like apples and pears. Choose a couple of different kinds of apples and pears, put them in your basket and give the gift of the season!

Fruit in so many forms

As you probably know, fruit comes in many different forms. To spice up your fruit gift baskets, add some fruit flavored tea or some fruity granola bars. You can also make a fruit basket that’s derived from all fruit juices. Give the health nut in your family a fruit gift basket that include fruity Cliff bars and organic fruit juice. This will be a big hit!

For the entertainer or wine connoisseur in your family, load up those fruit gift baskets with different wines. Put a basket together that features all red wines or put one together that features all white wines. If you want to get crazy, you can include red and white wines in your fruit gift baskets. Chocolate covered fruits, such as chocolate covered cherries are a great fruit to add to fruit gift baskets that include wine.
