Holiday Gift Baskets

Holiday gift baskets aren’t just for Christmas anymore. Think of how special someone would feel to be given a great gift basket for Thanksgiving or the Fourth of July. Thinking of people year round when giving gift items makes them feel special and appreciated.

No matter the holiday, if you intend on giving a gift item, you can always use a combination of items grouped in a basket to build a spectacular gift. All holidays have their own traditional theme and those are great places to start when you plan to build holiday gift baskets. You can start with those more normal theme ideas or you can come up with something more original to relate to holiday gifts.

If you are looking to gift baskets which correspond to traditional holidays, provide several items which would be used and appreciated at holiday time. Obviously a Halloween basket should have a selection of candies, but candles, lapel pins shaped like Halloween characters, pencils or pens or paper clips shaped like jack-o-lanterns would be fun to include. Thanksgiving lends itself to fall colors, harvest foods from fall, turkeys and pilgrims and special moments with family. A nice item to include in a Thanksgiving basket would be a disposable camera or two. Valentine’s Day brings hearts and love along with candies and flowers. Use items which offer a bit of whimsy and remember you can’t go wrong with red at Valentine’s Day. Consider a fun grouping of pens and shamrock decorations for St. Patrick’s Day and go green! Splashes of red, white and blue fill Americans with pride at the Fourth of July and building them up in a basket complete with sparklers, lollipops, sunscreen and grilling tools will make anyone feel special in the middle of summer.

For those who don’t celebrate traditional Christian holidays, you can always gear your gift basket to their holiday or you can gear a basket toward the season instead. Fall baskets would be great when begun with some great smelling candles to warm the home. Consider scents like sugar cookie or mulled cider to fill the air with the fragrances of fall. You can also include seasoned roasted pumpkin seeds in a couple of flavors and a hot cider mix as well. Add to that a set of hand towels in deep oranges and browns and you have a fabulous fall basket just waiting for the giving. Try to do the same thing with a winter festival theme, a new beginnings theme for spring and a sunshine celebration for summer.

Have fun when creating the right gift basket for every occasion. A little thought and careful planning will help you make your holiday gift baskets gifts that will never be forgotten.
