Wedding Favors

Wedding favors have evolved from the once-standard white rice with which to shower the bride and groom. Now wedding hosts truly want to give their guests a reminder of a day that was important to their family’s history. Those little tokens should be heartfelt items any guest will appreciate.

Candied almonds are an extremely popular wedding favor, but these to have evolved into something grander. Now your candied almonds come in a reusable box or tin with the special date embossed on the top. You can find the nuts in a small sachet bag which can be refilled with your favorite potpourri. Mints can also be packaged in a similar fashion.

Place cards are a wedding essential for seating. If you do have a seating chart, consider placing place cards in small photo frames. When your guests leave, they are able to take the frame with them and can remove the place card and use the frame for a small photo. These are great for professionals who can appreciate seeing a small photo of someone they love on their desk every day.

If the bride and groom are connoisseurs of wine, cheese or fine foods, a nice theme item for that would be good. There are a wide variety of wine sets with a small corkscrew and bottle stopper available at a reasonable price per piece. Bottle openers or cheese spreaders are also very nice, especially when engraved with the names of the newlyweds.

The last several years have witnessed an explosion of popularity. Candles have been all but reinvented by taking on themes and scents of a non-traditional nature. Wedding hosts can select candle items of a floral theme and scent which reflects the bride’s bouquet. There are novelty candles to support the theme of the honeymoon location or the place where the lucky couple met. Maybe votive holders can be found that match symbols embossed on the wedding invitations.

Sometimes very practical items can make the best favors for wedding guests. There are small salt and pepper shakers in a variety of styles which would lend themselves well to a wedding. Coaster sets can be found from a lower end paper with the names and dates on them or can be a glass photo holder coaster. There are key chains which can be personalized as well either to the wedding event or to be used as place cards specific to the individual guest.

Silver items always add a touch of class and elegance to any wedding setting. Hosts can gift their guests with silver coffee scoops, heart shaped measuring spoons, figurines, pens and bells are all lovely items guests will cherish as the years go by.

Try to gear wedding favors to the theme of the wedding and reception or to tie them into the bride and groom. It will help make the reception an unforgettable evening. Wedding favors have come a long way, baby!
