Wine Gift Baskets

Wine Gift Baskets

Wine gift baskets are a great gift to bring to a holiday party.

What are wine gift baskets?

Wine gift baskets are just like fruit baskets, they just include wine instead of fruit. Like fruit baskets, wine gift baskets come in all shapes and sizes. You can get a wine basket that has one bottle of wine, some chocolate and some gourmet crackers. You can also get a wine basket that has several bottles of wine, different cheeses, gourmet crackers, a wine opener, chocolate, a wine book and a label remover.

The type of wine basket you get will depend on your budget. It costs a lot more to get a wine basket that has the works. Small wine baskets cost anywhere from $40-$300. Large wine baskets can cost anywhere from $500-$1,000. The type of wine you put in the wine gift baskets will greatly affect the price of the basket.

Do wine gift baskets actually come in baskets?

Yes and no. Many wine gift basket manufacturers will actually put the wine in a large basket and cover the basket with shrink-wrap to keep the wine from falling out. Other manufactures will put the wine in a wine carrying case. If you get a wine basket that's in an actual wine carrying case, don't count on cheese, wine, crackers or any other accessories being included.

What kind of wine should I get?

There are many different types of wine from all over the world. This gives you a lot of options, but it can be daunting if you don't know much about wine. If you don't know a whole lot about wine, stick to common table wine for your wine gift baskets. Common white wines include pinot grigio, chardonnay, white zinfandel and sauvignon blanc. Common reds include merlot, shiraz, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, red zinfandel and pinot noir.

You can also create a wine basket that contains different wines from one vineyard. Or, you could create a wine basket of merlots, cabernets, chardonnays or any other style of wine. Putting wine together according to region is another way to go about putting your wine gift baskets together. For example, you could choose to make a gift basket of red Tuscan wines.

If you don't know what kind of wine your host drinks, try a wine basket that has one white and one red wine. Ask the person who's selling the wine gift baskets if they can recommend some good wine.

Where to find wine gift baskets

The easiest place to find wine gift baskets is the Internet. Do a search for wine gift baskets and you'll end up with plenty of Web sites. The nice thing about getting on-line baskets is that the manufacturers have pre-made baskets. This saves the wine novice from trying to figure out exactly what wine to put in the wine gift baskets.
